As the main sights of the country has suffered flooding since 2008.

If Brazil was known as a tropical paradise due to its natural beauties and the absence of natural disasters, at least in relation to this latter feature things have changed in recent years due to heavy summer rains.

Two of the most beautiful states of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catarina have suffered in recent years with disasters that left many dead and homeless. Its prime location, which attracts thousands of tourists with beaches and hills, became scene of tragedy.

All the fault of governments who did not take preventive measures to strong and frequent summer rains.

What happens is that when heavy rains hit areas where homes are built on hillsides, the force of water knocks down the houses and causing an avalanche, devastating homes and knocking out other cities poorly structured.

This is due to the negligence of the government towards the irregular buildings under its responsibility.

According to the president of CREA, Agostinho Guerreiro, the body responsible for overseeing the professional activities related to urban planning, the state of Rio de Janeiro, relatively simple measures such as building small dams and slope stabilization at the top of the tributaries would be sufficient to prevent such disasters. Small works that do not require large expenditures or large apparatus to carry out.

Means that the officials are not taking the responsibility to prevent the tragedies.

Also according to Agostinho, they should not be ignored by governments of cities that have the same characteristics of those who were victimized by heavy rains. He said it is true that new storms of great intensity to fall again in coming years and cities must be prepared to avoid further tragedies.

Regardless, Brazil remains a beautiful country. Undoubtedly, it is still a must stop for tourists who want to experience the beauty around the world, but lack of political competence to manage cities, makes the country lose money on visits of these tourists and their citizens end up suffering from an even more serious.
